Lewis, Elinor Cook

 Person

Biographical Note

Elinor Cook Lewis was the great-grand niece of Oregon pioneer Tabitha Moffatt Brown. Elinor's great-grandfather, Chester Moffatt, was Tabitha's brother. Sometime in the early 1900s, Elinor discovered and transcribed letters that Tabitha Brown had written to the Moffatts in a family home near Nunda, New York. These letters, in which Tabitha provided an account of her journey to Oregon, were later published as "The Brimfield Heroine."
