Content Description

Primarily correspondence pertaining with development and growth of the university, also the University's clause against liquor. Includes material from presidents Clark, Weir, Miller and Armstrong, and business manager R. L. Wylie. 19th century material mostly pertains to the search for a new University President after Sidney Harper Marsh's death and before Herrick was hired. Several letters from the 1860s are included. There is also a typed transcript of an 1844 letter written by Harvey Clarke regarding the Indians of the Tualatin Plains.
