Content Description

A collection assembled by feminist activist Mary Whitmore through her work on women's rights between 1977-2020. The earliest material relates to her fight for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in the 1970s-1980s; the latest material relates to her participation in the Women's Marches of January 21, 2017 and to the celebration of the centennial of women's suffrage in 2020. The collection includes: her copy of "The Women of Ellensburg" 1977 (the program for the first ERA convention she attended); photographs of protests and assemblies in the 1970s-1980s; political pins and buttons; a "pink pussy hat" from the 2017 marches; a pro-ERA t-shirt; an approx. 18" doll dressed as a suffragist; several signs and placards; and approximately 0.25 linear feet of papers including several typed pages relating to her actions, various brochures, magazines and clippings related to feminism.
