The collection includes a letter and a poem by Elva Whitney Parker, the spouse of Pacific University Optometry Program Alumnus James Whitney (class of 1954). While at Pacific University James and Elva lived in the Married Student Housing, where there were many WWII veterans attending the University under the G.I. Bill.
