Historical Note

Pacific University has run summer sessions of certain curriculum for decades, with the earliest of documentation being in 1923 with classes resuming in Seaside, what was referred to as "the playground of the Northwest" in the pamphlet. Seaside was chosen as the destination for a fulfilling summer session involving a range of courses, such as Discipline and Character Training, Principles of Teaching, Sociology, English Composition, Social Anthropology, and Biology. In years thereafter summer session proceeded to resume on the Pacific campus and continued to offer a wide range of all-inclusive classes, with additions like theatre and creative writing. Summer school is still currently conducted at Pacific University.
