Biographical / Historical
The "Aurora" was founded and edited by Albert Tozier in 1882. At the time, Tozier had recently graduated from high school at Tualatin Academy, which was attached to Pacific University in Forest Grove. The newspaper was advertised as being issued twice a week for a subscription price of $1.50 per year. Possibly due to competition with a more established newspaper, the Hillsboro-based "Independent," the newspaper did not last long. Tozier later became a co-owner and editor of the Independent and edited several other newspapers in the Pacific Northwest.
