Content Description

Used for sale or trade by a tribe on the northwest coast. Made of hazel stick only. 15" high without the lid, 11" diameter at the widest part, 9" opening at the top. Lid is 2 1/4" high, 10 1/2" in diameter. Woven handle (1 1/2" high) is stiff. The lid fits down over the main part securely. From the Siletz or Grand Ronde tribes based on pattern and material. Briefly appraised by Stephanie Craig (Grand Ronde basket weaver), 11/2018: Possibly made by an ancestor of Craig. Southern Oregon style. Materials are all hazel. This was made for trade.
