Siletz beargrass trade basket

Content Description
Used for sale or trade by the Siletz in Oregon. Made of reeds and beargrass. Naturally colored grasses and two shades of dark brown made the design. The bottom is rectangular, 9 1/2" by 4". The sides slope up to a rather narrow mouth, 6 3/4" by 3 1/2". Neck and handles are broken. Briefly appraised by Stephanie Craig (Grand Ronde basket weaver), 11/2018: Juncus effusus (common rush) warp and root weft. White material is beargrass; black is maidenhair fern; root-wrapped rim.
