Trunk made of wood, leather, and nails. 26" by 21" bottom by 9 1/4". 26" by 21" by 4 1/2". 11" by 6 1/2" inner door. Belonged to Alanson Hinman (1822-1908) who came to Oregon in 1844 where he first spent time teaching at the Whitman Mission and others until finally settling in Forest Grove, Oregon where he became a trustee of Tualatin Academy (later Pacific University) in 1853 . Until his death, he ran a general store in Forest Grove, Oregon.
