Content Description
Clay, stoneware vessel used for holding an offering during a ceremony. Has a high, pierced foot, widely overhanging bowl, and a cover with a handle. Found during an archaeological dig in Korea. Dates back to the 9th century, likely from the Unified Silla Dynasty. 7 1/2" tall, 4 1/2" diameter at base, 5 1/4" across top. Rough texture, greenish-gray in color, slits 1/2" wide and 2" long on sides as decoration. Separate top with stamped decoration in two bands, incised with comb, a circular handle.
