Baldwin Company organ

 Accession
Identifier: MUS-1984-44

Content Description

Electric organ, serial number 6763, manufactured by the Baldwin Company. Purchased by donor from the Oregon Music Company in Portland, Oregon. Another description for the organ in the old Museum records describes it as a pump organ bearing the mark of Clough and Warren Organ Co. of Detroit, Michigan, and has the date of 1884 inscribed on it. However, it is believed to have been in existence in 1876, when it belonged to a young Michigan school teacher. In 1905, James Vinning traded a young heifer for the organ. The Vinnings moved to Forest Grove, Oregon, in 1924.
