Siletz straw basket

Content Description

Used by the Siletz in Oregon on the northwest coast. Made of straw. 7 5/8" in diamter, 4 1/2" in depth, 5" base. A double handle. Openwork twining. 1 black strip on bottom and 1 black strip near base of basket. Briefly appraised by Stephanie Craig (Grand Ronde basket weaver), 11/2018: Juncus effusus (common rush) basket. Black loop on the side is the "signature" of the weaver.
