Content Description
Used potentially for food by the Modoc in northern California and southern Oregon. 8 1/2" in diameter, 4" base, 4 1/2" depth. Brown and yellow design apparently represents Table Rock, where General Joseph Lane made a treaty with the Indians during the Indian War. A light Purple thread holder attached to top of basket. Twined. Briefly appraised by Stephanie Craig (Grand Ronde basket weaver), 11/2018: made of sticks and roots with beargrass overlay.
