Content Description

A model of an original kayak from Alaskan Eskimos. 26 1/2" in length, 4 3/4" width at widest point. Wood ribbing in the interior, one hole for sitting 3 1/2" in diameter. The center hole is tied around with string. At the bow (front) are two heads of seals (ivory) and closet to the hole are the hails of the seals. One the left hand side of the bow is a 12" double paddle- 3/4" at widest point, flat on the back and ridged on the top. One the right hand side is a single paddle- 8" in length, 3/4" in width. It has a black blade, with a red strip before the handle and a red crossbar at teh end of the handles. At the stern (back), on the left side, there are two harpoons and a spear. One harpoon is is broken and 6 7/8" long, while the other is 8 1/8" long. The spear is 9 3/8" long. There are painted red and black with ivory tips and wrapped in rawhide. On the right side of the stern (back), there are four harpoons. One harpoon has no point and 8" long, the next two are 8 1/8" long, and the last is 9 1/8" long. The last three have ivory tips (one of which is 2 3/8" long). Tied to the kayak is a float- 2 3/4" long, 1 1/4" wide, 1 1/8" deep. It is made out of wood with a groove in the center.
