Henry Hart Spalding Scrapbook
Henry Hart Spalding, the son of missionaries Henry Harmon and Eliza Hart Spalding, was one of the first children born to two white parents in the Oregon Territory. This scrapbook was probably his notebook when he was a high school student in the 1850s; news clippings from the 1860s-1870 are pasted over some earlier text.
Henry L. Bates Papers
Henry Liberty "Prin" Bates, served as the last principal of Tualatin Academy (1893-1915), and thereafter, as professor of philosophy and dean of faculty at Pacific University until his retirement in 1926. The collection chiefly consists of six large scrapbooks that he compiled while studying at Oberlin College and working at Tualatin Academy and Pacific University.
