Content Description

This collection contains photographs, newspaper articles and other biographical information regarding the life and legacy of Elizabeth Millar Wilson. Wilson came to Forest Grove, Oregon, along with five other teachers, via the Panama Canal in 1851. She taught at the Tualatin Academy between 1851-1854. After which time she moved to The Dalles, Oregon. Wilson was appointed Postmistress by presidential appointment in 1874, making her the first female postmistress.
