A handwritten letter dated December 6, 1924, from Pacific University's Dean of Women Mary Frances Farnham to Professor Charles W. Laurence, regarding the history of the college's annual holiday "Wassail" celebration. The letter is accompanied by its original mailing envelope and by a page from the March 15, 1906 issue of The Forest Grove News-Times, covering the fire that destroyed Herrick Hall (Pacific's first women's dormitory).

This letter was donated to the Archives in 2023 by Becky Matta Ball, who stated that it formerly belonged to her great-aunt Margaret Morgan Hawkins, who was Pacific University's Dean of Women from 1934-1940.
