Content Description

Consists of diaries, notebooks, household accounts, letters, legal documents, certificates, books, news clippings, printed ephemera and research notes. The majority of the material relates to Mary Richardson Walker, who was one of the first American women to cross the Oregon Trail; and her son, Cyrus Walker, who worked at Oregon's Warm Springs Reservation for many years. Several of the diaries and manuscripts mention the Forest Grove Indian Training School, including one autograph book signed with short notes from approximately 40 of its Native American students.
