Content Description

"Memoirs of Cyrus Hamlin Walker" holograph manuscript written circa 1916, covering Walker's life from 1864-1916. Notable content includes memories of his enlistment in the Union Army in Oregon towards the end of the Civil War, life in the Willamette Valley from the 1860s-1870s, and life at the Warm Springs Indian Agency from the 1870s-1890s. The manuscript consists of approximately 500 hand-numbered pages: 99-249, 260-456, 458-470, 472-524, 526-593, 603-675. It is accompanied by a typed transcript and notes created by his great-granddaughter Betty Coates Thorn in 2013.
