Campus building exteriors. 1998
Scope and Contents
A collection of approximately 600 photographs that were created and/or collected by Pacific University's Office of Student Life between 1985-2005. Most of the photographs are casual snapshots of students and events led by their staff, and appear to have been taken by non-professional photographers for internal purposes. About 10% of the photographs, mostly dating from the late 1980s and early 1990s, have tags on the back indicating that they were being prepared for use in a Pacific University publication: possibly Pacific's Alumni Magazine.
Topics include: freshman orientations and move-in days; annual field trips for students and residential advisors (RAs) such as beach, rafting, and camping trips; campus buildings, including many interior shots made in the late 1990s, apparently to document spaces available for campus events; portraits of staff and student workers from the Student Life office; holiday parties such as Christmas (Wassail) and Halloween; Homecoming celebrations; and other student activities, including several relating to the Boxer II statue.
The photographs are arranged in rough chronological order. Whenever possible, photographs relating to the same event were grouped together within the same folder. The photographs dating from 1985-1990 are mostly black-and-white prints, while those dating from after 1990 are mostly in color. About 20% of the prints are accompanied by the original developer's sleeve containing the negatives.
