"Memory Book", 1837
Scope and Contents
Typed transcript of a "memory book," which was a handwritten book of poems and notes from Clark's friends in Oberlin, Ohio and Gourverneur, New York, from 1836-1837. It was apparently compiled on the occasion of Clark leaving for Oregon as a missionary. Many of the entries refer to his impending journey to "preach the gospel to every creature." The location of the original is unknown; it may be in the collections of the Pacific University Museum. [Note: A record of the original in the Museum Collection was found; it is recorded as having been in Box #11 in "Processing;" and moved to "Office Bookcase, 11/11/03." EG, 2/15/2013]
