Speech to Western Association of Pulp and Paper Workers, 1976 September 20
Scope and Contents
Series 1 consists of the various speeches and statements AuCoin made while in office. The majority of these speeches were made while AuCoin was in the US House of Representatives, between 1975-1992. The speeches are mostly excerpts from the Congressional Record, though the series also includes typed and handwritten copies of speeches he gave at various events throughout his career. The series also includes memoranda and notes related to speech writing, as well as copies of speeches reproduced for “Dear Colleague” letters circulated in Congress.
This series is arranged chronologically. The majority of the speeches in this series are grouped into folders by the month and year in which they were given. When folders contain a single speech, the topic and context of the speech is listed in the title. An index of the speeches contained in the collection can be found in Box 1, Folder 15, though it is unclear when this index was produced.
Copies of speeches related to AuCoin’s campaigns can be found in Series 2. Series 4 also contains many copies of AuCoin’s speeches, as they were often reproduced and disseminated through mailings and media releases.
