Historical Note

The Humanitarian Center at Pacific University organized community service and engagement projects at the university. Founded in 1998 by a unanimous vote of the faculty, it helped students to volunteer for projects such as service trips to Navajo lands. The Humanitarian Center was renamed the "Center for Civic Engagement" in 2009.
