Scope and Contents

This collection includes a number of items that originally belonged to the Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity for men. There is a membership directory, plaques and award certificates, a Phi Mu Alpha handbook, various issues of The Sinfonian, and three scrapbooks documenting the fraternity's activities on campus. There is also a Pacific University centennial year calendar as well as a memory brochure in honor of the University's 150 year mark.

Historical Note

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia was a national social fraternity founded in 1898 with the primary goal to advance the cause of music in America. Pacific University was the home of a very active chapter known as Mu Chi throughout the 1960s-1980s. The local chapter hosted a number of events on campus such as Carnival, American Music Concert, Spring Sing, Clipper Club, Sweetheart Sing for Valentine's Day, and Pledge recital. They also participated in events around campus such as Music in May and put together a group float for the Balladtown Parade.
