Historical Note
Pacific University's Intercollegiate Knights was a honor and service society for sophomore men that was active from the 1940s-1960s. The local chapter was known as the "Badger Knights" until 1948. Freshmen would be nominated for membership at the end of their first year, based on their academic and extra-curricular achievements. Those who were selected were often among the most active students on campus, with members commonly contributing to many other organizations such as the student newspaper, yearbook, sports and debate teams. During certain years, the Knights had special jackets made with their logo. They participated in dances and charity events, often in partnership with their female counterpart organization, the "Boxerettes." The Knights also published the "Pacific University People" directory, usually known as the "PUP," which was a phone number and address directory for Pacific University students. Profits from sales of the the PUP went to charity. [check this for accuracy - Eva.]
