Historical Note

In 1945 Pacific University joined with North Pacific College of Optometry to form the College of Optometry at Pacific University. By 1952, Pacific University and Oregon Optometric Association had developed an academic doctor of optometry degree. This degree was the first doctor of optometry recognized by the National Association for Accreditation of Colleges.
