A paperback book: "Wrestling: All it takes is all you got! The story of Coach Mike Clock and the program he built. In the Voice of Coach Clock as told to Tim Oldstead" (Newberg: Wimsey Books, 2025). Recounted in the first person, it includes a narrative history of Mike Clock's career as a wrestling coach and professor of mathematics at Pacific University, 1967-2002; anecdotes from his life; scans of archival photographs and articles; appendices of wrestling championship winners and scores; and other material.

Biographical Note

Mike Clock was the Wrestling Coach and a professor of mathematics at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon from 1967-2002. In the words of his biographer, Tim Olstead: "Dr. Clock was a highly successful prep and college-level wrestler, earning his DEd in mathematics from Oklahoma State University in 1967. He began teaching mathematics and coaching wrestling at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR, later that year. His teams won sixteen consecutive Northwest Conference titles before the tournament was discontinued after 1984. He coached seventy-seven All-Americans, eight national champions, and his teams finished in the top ten nationally in thirteen seasons at the NAIA and NCAA Div 3 levels. He is a member of five Halls of Fame including the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Throughout much of his career he was active in facilitating international goodwill trips for wrestlers."

The author of the book, Tim Olmstead, was in the Pacific University Class of 1972 and was on Coach Clock's wrestling team. In his own words, Olmstead "is a writer and educator living in Northwest Oregon. He has been happily married to Sandra for many moons. He has been published in regional historical journals and various special interest publications, all of this occurring some time ago. He has also authored and published three chapbooks of autobiographical non-fiction and poetry."
