Herb and Carol Drew Collection of Pacific University Photographs
Scope and Contents Note
The collection includes approximately 40 black-and-white photographs and over 200 negatives depicting student life at Pacific University from 1956-1960. Some of the photographs were apparently created for the Pacific University Index (the student newspaper). Some notable subjects include: Greek letter societies (Phi Lambda Omicron and Alpha Zeta); portraits of individual students; plans for the construction of Walter Hall; a "Boxer Toss"; librarians in the old Carnegie Library; the swimsuit competition in a "Miss Forest Grove" contest; the "Phi Beta Tau Pajama Dance," Jan. 9, 1959 and the "Theta Pajama Dance," Feb. 9, 1959; a "Football Banquet," Nov. 26, 1957; Homecoming and Bonfire activities; football, basketball, archery and other sports events; campus buildings; several faculty / coaches including Hap Hingston, Dr. Chipps' literature class and Dr. Eilibott's business class; the Infirmary and Cafeteria; the Kappa Kotton Klub dance review; and others.

Biographical Note
Carol and Herb Drew were students at Pacific University from 1956-1960. Both were journalism majors and were involved in many clubs and activities on campus. Carol, whose maiden name was Bowser, married Herb while they were enrolled.

Carol and Herb Drew donated this collection to the Pacific University Archives in February, 2012. Additions were made to the collection by Carol Drew in 2025.
