John Seus Papers
Scope and Contents
John Seus was a Pacific University graduate, class of 1939, and was an attorney in the U.S. Court of Appeals. His brother, Bernie Seus, is the donor of this collection. The collection includes John Seus' letters home to his parents during World War II, manuscript drafts of legal writings, property titles and records, family photographs, and miscellaneous personal documents including academic, military, and professional records. Much of the collection consists of his notes and drafts of papers relating to legal history, most of which apparently remained unpublished. Also included is an oversized certificate from the United States Court of Appeals.

Biographical Note
Mr. John Michael Seus was a Pacific graduate (class of 1939) who went on to become an army official and later, a Professor of Business Law at Southeastern University. He was born in 1912 into a family of nine children and died on July 20, 1999. During his lifetime he fought in World War II and sent correspondence back home. When he returned home, he attended George Mason University for further education. He became an attorney in the American court of appeals in 1956. He wrote about various topics in the history of law. One of his writings which was published in the American Bar Association Journal in 1968 was entitled "Aztec Law".
