Historical Note

The Salzwedel family of Cornelius, Oregon, probably arrived in the state around 1900. They formed part of a community of other families of German immigrant roots who settled in Washington County around that time. The Salzwedel farm was about four miles directly north of Cornelius; a road named for them still exists there.
