Kalapuya stone artifact

Content Description

A very smooth textured work stone possibly used for smoothing leather or for use in cooking baskets when heated in fire. Found near the Seth School in Cherry Grove, Oregon. Based on this location near Gaston, it was likely made by the Kalapuya. Rock is flat, almost round. 4" by 3 1/2" by 2 7/8".
