Content Description

Used for storage by a tribe in the lower Klamath area. From Sauer's Bar at the fork of the Klamath River, in the area encompassing northern California and southern Oregon. Made of maidenhair fern and reed materials. 6 1/2" in diameter, base is 5" diameter, 3 1/2" high. Briefly appraised by Stephanie Craig (Grand Ronde basket weaver), 11/2018: Looks like Hupa, Yurok or Karuk style. Made of roots and sticks with beargrass and dyed beargrass. Made for trade.
