Content Description
Round volcanic stone net sinker, 4 1/2" by 3 1/2". Sinkers were used to weigh fishing nets down in the water. Often, also called a net weight. Boring tool is a gray, smooth stone, marked "Ashland" and resembles Columbia River work. 3 1/2" long with tapered ends and bands at each end. The boring tool was most likely used to bore holes into the sinkers so they could attach to the nets.
