Used to mash potatoes. Made of wood. The handle is 10 3/4" long, 2 3/4" wide. The masher part is 4 1/4" long. Brought with the Cornwall family in 1846 as they traveled to the Oregon Territory. Joan Didion wrote about this particular potato masher in her book Where I was From.
