Lime gourd

Content Description

Originally a hard skinned fruit, the gourd acts as a container for storing lime powder which is mixed with betel nut to increase the stimulant affects of the nut. It also makes the teeth turn black. When chewed, the nut is spit out onto the ground. From New Guinea and possibly the island of Borneo. Gourd is 6" high and 6" in diameter. It is brown colored and has a 28" twine attached.
