Content Description

Pair of ice skates made of wood, metal file runners, and leather straps. The wood is 10 1/2" long, flat on top and curved underneath. 1 3/4" wide. The metal part is a file with pointed end turned up. Used by Orus Brown. Bought in Boston in 1812 and brought west with the Brown family in 1846. Orus Brown was the oldest son of Tabitha Brown, one of the founders of Tualatin Academy (now Pacific University) in Forest Grove, Oregon.
