1848 log cabin model with fence

Content Description

Model of a log cabin from 1848. 12 3/4" by 7" high by 7" wide. Has two windows with four panes, area is 2 1/4" by 2". Has a "worm fence", or more commonly called the split-rail fence, 23" long mounted on a piece of wood. Five rails arranged in rows and laid on top of one another. They were found on the Pacific University campus in Forest Grove, Oregon. Based on time and location, the log cabin modeled is most likely of the first log cabin that was built on the campus in 1849 that was used by Tabitha Brown for the Tualatin Academy, which later became Pacific University.
