Content Description
"Webster's Unabridged" dictionary. Belonged to Alanson Hinman, long time member of the Board of Trustees of Tualatin Academy (later Pacific University) in Forest Grove, Oregon. The book was left in the "sitting room" of the Hinman home on its own stand for easy reference. There is an inscription placed in the Pacific Museum along with the book written by Hinman's grand-daughter, "Dolly" Margaret Hinman, explaining its use in the Hinman home. According the old Pacific Museum records, the book was published in 1854, but it was likely actually published in 1864.
