Picture of Rev. Joseph Elkanah Walker seated in a chair reading. Black frame, 10" by 12". Walker was a graduate of Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, in 1867. In the late 1880s, while a missionary in China, Walker sent Boxer, what became the Pacific University mascot, to his mother for safe-keeping, and in 1896, she presented it to the university.
