Content Description
Picture of a log cabin built and used by Alvin Thompson Smith (1802-1888), a politician and missionary who settled in what is now Forest Grove, Oregon. The log cabin was built in 1841. Located beyond the Southern Pacific railroad tracks at the south end of what is now called Elm Street, on the west side of the street. Next to the cabin is another log cabin also built by Smith where he lived and used as the first post office in the county. Frame of the picture is 27" by 16".
