Content Description
White net cap with pink ribbon, stripes with black bordering each stripe. Large pink ribbon cluster and white lace around the edge of the cap. For wearing over hair inside the house. Made by Mrs. Phebie Tharpe. A handwritten note, possibly from the donor, Doris Burlingham, with the old Pacific Museum records states: "Cap made by and given to mother by Mrs. Phebie Tharp. Aunt Martha Porter's youngest sister. Their maiden name was Snell. William Cullen Bryant's mother was a Snell. I think Aunt Martha was his cousin."
