Content Description
Table made of teak wood with a black finish. Intricately carved with iris and lotus flowers and a Greek key fret patterned border on the top. 40" by 30" at widest part on the top. Cabriole legs with claw-and-ball feet. 29" high. Under covering of a reddish stain. Ornamental table from the early 20th century, likely specifically from 1900-1910. The style became a fad after the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri. Used in the donor's, Mrs. Cora Lee Burke, home in Tacoma. According to Burke, the table was carved by Japanese craftsmen based on the Chinese furniture style.
