Kalapuya stone mortar part

Content Description

Used to grind food in. Made of stone. Found near old Native American burial ground in Tualatin Valley- 3 miles west of Gaston, Oregon. Based on location, it was likely made by the Kalapuya. One rim (part of a complete diameter) is very crude work. Looks like it may have been in a fire. 7 3/4" in length, 7 1/4" wide, 4 1/2" deep. Smooth inside with thick walls and smooth outside shell.
