Scope and Contents
The collection consists of 11 printed research reports prepared by the Allied Translator and Interpreter Section, South West Pacific Area, to assist military leaders. The reports belonged to Colonel Karl F. Baldwin, whose name is written or typed on most of the reports. They are marked with "Confidential" stamps and receipt stamps of the Office of the United States Military Attache in Melbourne, Australia. The reports center on Japanese military psychology, their readiness for battle and their knowledge of the United States military capabilities. Most of the reports list as sources, "Captured Documents" and "Statements by Prisoners of War."
