Historical Note
Kappa Delta, later known as Alpha Kappa Delta, has been a sorority at Pacific University since 1904. Its founding members split off from another women's Greek Letter society on campus, the Philomathean Society. The sorority has participated in many social, theater, charity and debate activities. In the past, the group ran such programming as Kappa Kotton Klub, Christmas carols to the fraternity houses, and annual dances on the Pacific campus. They were the sister society to the one of the most active fraternities on campus, the Alpha Zetas. By the early 1990s, the sorority began to identify itself as the "Alpha Chapter of the Kappa Delta Sorority," and became more commonly known as the Alpha Kappa Deltas.
