Scope and Contents

The scrapbook was created while Ernestine Brown attended Pacific University from 1917-1922. It contains images of the activities she participated in while at Pacific, including staff and class photos, state conventions, recreational activities, general photographs of the campus, May Day festivities, sports, and the Forest Grove community. Other materials include postcards, class programs, commencement handouts, newspaper clippings, event programs, and invitations by Kappa Delta.

Biographical Note

Ernestine Brown was born October 1, 1901 in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was a descendent of Tabitha Moffett Brown, one of the founders of Pacific University. She was raised and went to school in Forest Grove, Oregon, graduating from the local high school in 1917. She then went on to attend Pacific University, graduating cum laude in 1923. She went on to teach math, Latin, and English until 1927.

Mrs. Davidson married Roy L. Davidson in 1926 at the Brown family home. They remained in Forest Grove on the historic Brown Farm which they farmed for 65 years. She had three children, ten grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davidson died January 18, 1995 at the age of 93 in Canby, Oregon.
